What's Going On At The Gallery?

ARTIST OF THE MONTH

JANUARY 2026

Karen Kelly

“Remembering the Past”

Karen Kelly, local Louisiana born-and-bred artist, is featured as the Artist-of-the-Month for January 2026. Involved in the art scene for over fifty years, this regional and national award-winning artist has been instrumental in the growth and development of the Terrebonne Fine Arts Guild and Gallery 630. Her expertise in promoting the arts as well as educating budding artists has been the driving force in the success of the Guild.

This exhibit reaches back to many of her paintings from long ago. It includes landscapes, still-life, and abstracts, all of which were a learning curve during her journey into the arts. Kelly credits her first art teacher, Helen Lapeyrouse, who was more than willing to share any and all information from her many art workshops.

Having joined the Terrebonne Fine Arts Guild in 1975, Kelly takes advantage of each and every opportunity to study with local, regional, and national artists that have found their way to South Louisiana. This gave Kelly the knowledge to pursue various art media, including working with clay and copper.

As a member of Terrebonne Fine Arts Guild, she has served in numerous capacities, including President, Gallery Director, and Treasurer, where she has remained for 20 years. In addition, she was also able to teach numerous adults and children through workshops, art classes, and student summer art camps.

Kelly’s work will be featured throughout January 2026. A reception will be held ***

I loved Monet at the Marina! The weather was beautiful and it allowed me explore a medium I hadn't tried. The instructors were friendly and helpful.
